Zad Moultaka

Zad Moultaka / Anashid

The young Lebanese composer Zad Moultaka and the female vocalist Fadia Tomb El-Hage occupy a unique position in Arab music.

"Anashid" is a contemporary version of the Old Testament "Song of Songs", a text expressing love and eroticism in a wonderfully poetic language.

The performance of "Anashid" at the opening concert of the famous music festival in Baalbek, Lebanon, was a veritable sensation.

Fadia Tomb El-Hage, also known as the singer in the Sarband ensemble, was the soloist in this magnificent work. She was accompanied by the Parisian Orchestre Symphonique du Conservatoire National de la Région de Boulogne-Billancourt under conductor Philippe Hui, the choir of the Louaizeh university and guest musicians in the Jupiter Temple.

The 75 different artists involved in the performance succeeded in turning the inspired alternation of question and answer between the compelling solo voice and the ensemble into a major event which moved everyone in the audience.

Insiders are already speaking of a new milestone in classical Oriental music.
